As it stands Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Mauricio Pochettino are the two names being linked with a move to Old Trafford, with the Red Devils legend lined up for a caretaker role and the Tottenham boss viewed as the ideal permanent successor to Mourinho next summer.However, former United midfielder Paul Ince wants the club to move in a different direction – Steve Bruce.He told Paddy Power: “The caretaker manager should have an understanding of Man United, and if you look at who has links to the club but is external, that doesnt leave many realistic options.3

The former Man United man has an interesting take on who he feels should replace Mourinho

“Youd look at someone who has managed at a decent level, and knows it inside out.“The suggestion ofOle Gunnar Solskjaer makes me laugh, that has to be a joke. It’s absolute madness.“This season has been a complete shambles. Its been like a soap opera, and Man United have gone backwards.“Jose Mourinho had to go, its surprising that theyve done it so soon though. Id understand if they had someone else lined up and ready to appoint, but now theyre talking about a caretaker manager.3

Pochettino is another name in the frame to take over at United

“If you havent got someone ready for the job, why sack Mourinho?“If youre picking someone for the caretaker manager, I believe theyd got to have managed previously and have a deep understanding of what it means to be at Man United.“Its got to be someone wholl galvanize the players, and someone who theyll respect. It seems there was a lack of that under Mourinho.“They have to have the character and presence to put demands on the players, at the minute theyre seemingly doing what they like. It has to be someone who understands what it takes to turn the club around. “If it was me? I’d pick Steve Bruce today.“Hes not working at the moment, and he had seven or eight years at the club. Hes been a very good, successful manager and he more than many understands what its like to be a United player.”Bruce was sacked as Aston Villa manager earlier this season after failing to secure promotion to the Premier League.
